This thumb brake was originally fitted by the Kawasaki Dealer using a standard kit. Although the kit is generally reasonable, in this application it cannot be fitted in a position that allows it to function. Also the standard rear caliper is mismatched to the new master cylinder even further reducing the performance of the rear brake.

To correct the fitting problems with the kit, the bars were changed to flat bars and new risers fabricated in the same style as the original to retain the standard top clamp. The original lever supplied with the kit now fouled the switchgear so to correct this and to improve the feel and power of the brake a new lever was machined from billet.
To correct the ratio between the thumb brake and the rear caliper a new caliper was fitted.
